Throughout my nearly two decades in trench safety, I found myself in a discussion with excavator operators on whether or not their trench was sloped properly. My operators wanted to do it right, but the trench slope angles I was discovering were often an operators best guess during the pace of the day.
I needed to provide a solution for them, a tool they could use for more consistent and compliant results, so I began looking for a something that would help our operators and supervisors quickly find their proper trench slope angles. I searched, but I couldn't find anything I could quickly deploy. I began experimenting with different ideas and that is where the concept of a field slope tool came to life.
This tool has proven to be a valuable solution in keeping our teams safe. I hope it has the same positive effect for yours as well.
This tool was designed to remind both the excavator operator and ditch man about the safest angles one should achieve while installing underground utilities.
Most importantly this tool keeps trench safety simple to use and read.
Each tool is in English and Spanish for easy field deployment.
The field quick angle slope tool gives you and your team an advantage when excavating to install underground utilities.
It also reminds the user about the following important numbers in the trenching world - 2,3,4,5.
More accurate slopes will create safer trenches and reduce cave ins.
If this tool helped you and your team let me know. Keep an eye out for updated pictures of success stories here!
